There are four different types of drive systems that you will find on cars. You will find front-wheel drive, four-wheel drive, rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive models. Front-wheel drive and rear-wheel drive systems are very common. Front-wheel drive and rear-wheel drive each have their advantages and disadvantages.

A rear-wheel drive vehicle is great for those who want a car with great handling. You will often find rear-wheel drive on sports cars. Rear-wheel drive is not the best if you have to drive in less than ideal road conditions. Rear-wheel drive can slip and slide in the snowy and icy weather.

Front-wheel drive is a great choice if you have to drive in a place where there is a lot snow each winter. Front-wheel drive provides you with excellent traction. Front-wheel drive models can be expensive to repair if damaged. Front-wheel drive can also suffer damage easier than a rear-wheel drive vehicle.
