You've always wanted a four-legged best friend in your life, but the one thing that always stopped you was the fur. How would you get all that fur out of your car?

In honor of Second Chance Pet Adoption League, which just saved five dogs from a puppy mill this month, here are a few quick and dirty tips on how to defeat shed hairs, and keep your car sparkling.

The trick with pet hair is that you can't vacuum it out of car carpeting. The fibers of the carpet "grab" the hairs and hold on to them.

First, relax the carpet by misting it with a 7:1 dilution of fabric softener.

Then, use a specialized tool, like the rubber pet hair broom, or Fur-Zoff stone to pull embedded hairs out with an easy sweeping motion. A latex glove can be substituted in a pinch.
